A Bolton pub is now showcasing its beers, by moving its cellar upstairs next to the lounge where customers are able to view the barrels on display. Real ale enthusiasts are able to watch staff at The Brewhouse on Blackburn Road, Dunscar, when they change barrels in a room off the main lounge separated only by a viewing window.
The new display cellar is part of a £40,000 refurbishment scheme for the Blackburn Road pub and replaces the small brewing plant which helped kick-start Dunscar Bridge Brewery’s range of beers in 2010.
The Brewhouse is aiming to appeal to more cask ale fans by installing as many as 15 conditioned beers on the bar. According to operations director Josh Lee, the aim is to help promote cask beers produced by local micro-breweries, as well as offering the company’s own popular range of Dunscar Bridge Brewery beers. Mr Lee said: “We hope our feature cask display cellar will demonstrate the care we take to keep our beers in the best condition”.
